René Schodder (Herlitz)

Co-Founder & CEO

René co-founded Konnektiv in 2013 with Geraldine de Bastion and Melanie Stilz and together with Geraldine leads the company as CEO. René oversees the work of the tech department, which is offering the technical implementation of digital solutions in development cooperation and the public sector.

In recent years, René’s focus has been on online collaboration and communication platforms, as well as peer learning platforms. Konnektiv focuses on open source tools to implement technical services. René has experience in the implementation and adaptation of WordPress (with many plugins co-written by him and published by Konnektiv), BigBlueButton, Nextcloud, Matrix/Element, Keycloak, among others.

Within our tech projects, René focuses on concept development and project management. He also consults our clients on the conceptualization and requirements definitions of large IT projects in the development cooperation sector – an area in which he has worked in various countries and contexts since 2004.

René studied computer science with a focus on ICT in education and society, as well as geography with a focus on development studies at the Humboldt University of Berlin and Universidad de la Habana in Cuba. Before co-founding Konnektiv, René worked at the Center for International and Intercultural Communication (ZiiK) of the Technical University Berlin. Besides his mother tongue German, he is fluent in English and Spanish.
